Keeping with the autumn theme, this scene is from the relatively new Punchbowl Falls Park, where the West Fork and East Fork of the Hood River converge. For more than a century, this spot was privately owned by timber companies, but in 2016 the Western Rivers Conservancy partnered with Hood River County, Thrive Hood River and Trailkeepers of Oregon (TKO) to bring this into public ownership. Today, it’s a beautiful pocket park with a network of scenic trails that are well worth visiting when in the Hood River area.
This scene captures the river confluence, itself, with the West Fork gliding in from the left and the East Fork flowing in from just behind the viewer. They combine to ramble off to the right, eventually joining the Columbia River.

Image Description: Two mountain streams join in a wide bend, flowing left to right. Tall fir trees rise above a colorful autumn mix of yellow and orange oaks and maples growing beneath them, their colors reflected in the water. In the foreground, gold, yellow and green grasses mix with dark, rounded river cobles along the river’s edge.
